Celtic Bookkeeping & Accountancy Services
Frequently asked questions A clearer view of the details
Find out more about our bookkeeping and accountancy support, how work is agreed, what information may be needed and how completed work is provided.
Services & scope
Understanding what the support covers.
What bookkeeping and accountancy support do you provide?
We provide remote bookkeeping and financial-record support for businesses and charities. Depending on the service agreed, this may include organising transaction records, reviewing supplied bookkeeping information, supporting accounts preparation, organising VAT-related records and preparing financial summaries.
The exact work included depends on the service selected and the written arrangement confirmed before the engagement begins.
Can I request support for just one task?
Yes. You can enquire about a defined task, such as organising a set of records, preparing a handover pack or producing an agreed financial summary. We will review the information available and confirm whether the task is suitable before accepting it.
Do you work with charities as well as businesses?
We can consider enquiries from both businesses and charities. Please describe the type of organisation, the records involved and the assistance you need. We will confirm whether the requested work falls within the scope we can provide.
Do you provide tax advice or prepare statutory filings?
Bookkeeping and records support should not be taken to mean that tax advice, statutory accounts, tax returns or formal submissions are automatically included. These services are only covered where they have been specifically discussed, confirmed and agreed in writing.
If you need a filing or a regulated or specialist service, tell us at the enquiry stage so that the scope can be clarified before any work is accepted.
Getting started
From your first enquiry to an agreed engagement.
How do I enquire about a service?
Use the website contact form or email enquiries@celticbookkeeping.services. Briefly explain the type of support you are looking for, the relevant period and any important deadline. Please do not include passwords or unnecessary sensitive financial information in your initial enquiry.
What happens after I send an enquiry?
We review the request and may ask for further details to understand the work involved. Before proceeding, the service scope, fee or pricing basis, required records, delivery arrangements and expected timescale should be confirmed. An enquiry alone does not mean that work has been accepted.
Can you work with my existing bookkeeping records?
We can consider existing spreadsheets, transaction listings and other records you provide. The suitability of those records depends on their format, completeness and the requirements of the task. Any conversion, reconstruction or substantial correction work should be identified and agreed separately where applicable.
Records & documents
Preparing the information needed for the work.
What information might I need to provide?
Depending on the agreed task, we may request items such as:
- Bank statements and transaction records for the relevant period.
- Sales invoices, purchase invoices and expense receipts.
- Existing bookkeeping spreadsheets or accounting-system exports.
- Relevant VAT records, where VAT-related support has been agreed.
- Opening balances, prior-period records or explanations of unusual transactions.
We will explain which items are needed for your particular engagement rather than assuming that every client must provide the same documents.
What if some records are missing or incomplete?
Tell us what is missing as early as possible. We can assess whether the available information is sufficient for the agreed task, whether clarification is needed or whether additional work should be discussed. We will not treat an unsupported figure or assumption as confirmed information.
Any effect on the scope, fee or delivery date should be explained before additional work is undertaken.
How should I send financial documents?
The appropriate transfer method will be confirmed for your engagement. Please use the agreed method and check that files are complete and readable. Do not send account passwords or full payment-card details by ordinary email.
Will you explain queries about my records?
Where information is unclear, we may ask you to explain a transaction or provide supporting records. The agreed service can include reasonable clarification necessary to complete the specified work. A separate investigation, extensive reconstruction or work beyond the original scope may require a new agreement.
Fees & payment
Clear expectations before work starts.
How are your fees calculated?
Fees depend on the type of service, the period covered, the volume and condition of the records, the information available and the agreed deliverables. Any published starting price is an indication rather than a guaranteed quote for every set of circumstances.
We will confirm the applicable fee or pricing basis before accepting the work. Any applicable taxes will be explained as part of the quotation or engagement terms.
Will extra work cost more?
Work outside the agreed scope may require an additional fee. Examples can include substantial record reconstruction, extra reporting, additional periods or repeated revisions beyond the agreed arrangement.
Where additional charges apply, we will explain the proposed work and cost and seek agreement before proceeding with it.
When do I need to pay?
The payment amount, due date and payment method will be stated in the quotation, invoice or engagement terms. Please check those details before confirming the service. Work will begin in accordance with the payment and commencement arrangements agreed for your engagement.
What if I want to cancel after booking?
Cancellation rights and any applicable refund depend on the type of contract, the circumstances and the work already undertaken. Where statutory consumer cancellation rights apply, those rights will be respected. A deduction for services already provided during a cancellation period will only be made where legally permitted and the relevant requirements have been met.
Please read the Cancellation & Refund Policy and the terms provided with your booking for the full procedure.
Timing & delivery
How deadlines and completed work are handled.
How long will my work take?
The expected completion date depends on the service, record volume, complexity and how quickly complete information is supplied. We will confirm the expected timescale before work begins rather than applying one deadline to every engagement.
If missing information or a change in scope affects the timetable, we will explain the impact and agree any revised arrangement with you.
How will I receive the completed work?
The delivery method will be agreed before work starts. Depending on the service, deliverables may include organised records, a spreadsheet, a financial summary, a checklist or other agreed documents supplied electronically.
The engagement confirmation will identify the specific deliverables and delivery method applicable to your request.
Can I ask for changes after receiving the work?
If something does not match the agreed brief, contact us with the relevant details so that it can be reviewed. The engagement terms will explain any included correction or review arrangements. A request to add new analysis, reporting or tasks may fall outside the original scope and may need a separate quotation.
Do you guarantee a particular financial outcome?
No particular financial result, tax outcome, filing acceptance or business outcome is guaranteed. Our work is limited to the services and deliverables agreed with you and depends on the quality and completeness of the information available.
VAT & filings
Keeping the limits of records support clear.
What does VAT-related support mean?
Where agreed, VAT-related support may include organising relevant transaction records, collating information and identifying items that need clarification. It does not automatically include preparing or submitting a VAT return, making a formal filing or advising on a tax position.
Any such additional service must be explicitly confirmed in the engagement terms before it is undertaken.
Can you submit a VAT return or other statutory filing for me?
Do not assume that submission or filing is included in a bookkeeping or records-support package. If you require a formal submission, tell us when enquiring so that we can confirm whether it can be provided and, if so, agree the scope, responsibilities, authorisations and deadline in writing.
Who is responsible for the accuracy of the records I provide?
You remain responsible for providing complete and accurate information and for answering reasonable queries about your records. We will carry out the agreed work using the information supplied and identify issues that come to our attention within that scope. This does not mean every underlying transaction or document has been independently verified.
Privacy & support
Handling information and raising questions.
How do you handle my business and financial information?
Information is handled for purposes connected with responding to enquiries, providing agreed services, maintaining records and meeting applicable obligations. The details of collection, use, sharing, retention and your privacy rights are set out in our Privacy Policy.
How long do you keep records?
Retention depends on the type of record, the purpose for which it is held and applicable legal or accounting requirements. We do not apply one universal retention period to every document. Further information is available in the Privacy Policy.
What if I am unhappy with the service?
Please contact us and explain the issue, the service concerned and the outcome you are seeking. We will review the concern and respond in accordance with our Complaints Policy.
How can I ask a question that is not covered here?
Email enquiries@celticbookkeeping.services or visit our Contact page. Include enough information for us to understand your enquiry, but avoid sending unnecessary personal or confidential financial details before a suitable method of sharing documents has been agreed.
Need to discuss a specific requirement?
Tell us what kind of records or bookkeeping support you need. We can clarify the proposed scope, information requirements and next steps before any work is agreed.
